Proper Manners

Proper Manners

Days long since passed,
Had known the art of manners.
Courtesy adhered to,
Polite, Genteel, and cordial charm.
Honour high above the call,
Was so pleasant to one and all.

A door held ajar,
A gossiping tongue held back.
Coats thrown over puddles,
A lady loved in regal ways.
Ladies before gentlemen,
And all good manners praised.

Times have changed it's true,
Decades coming, eras passing by.
No true gentlemen do I spy,
From the remotest corner of my eye.
Ladies without partners at the dance,
What the blazes happened to romance?
